Discover The Evocative Nature Of Poetry: Join And Explore With Us!

Updated: Sep 17

Mountains stand tall, trees reach for the sun, and emotions rise within.
Mountains stand tall, trees reach for the sun, and emotions rise within.

Images of the solid mountains and the ambitious trees possess a natural power that stirs emotions within us. Through poetry, the outer world connects with our inner, demonstrating how the art form can forge a bond between the self and nature.

It can be challenging to leave the noise behind in today’s fast- paced world making it difficult to find tranquility and moments for reflection and connection.  At Gamut of A Poem a poetry--focused haven, individuals are invited to join poetry sessions that aim to foster a sense of well-being by slowing down, freeing the mind and looking inward. The solid and enduring nature of the mountain represents universal themes of poetry such as love, loss, relationship and hope. These themes, constant throughout human experience, gain lasting presence and transformative emotional power through the use of images, metaphors and symbols. The stanzas below by William Wordsworth demonstrate this.

“I wandered lonely as a Cloud   That floats on high o’er Vales and Hills,When all at once I saw a crowd,   A host of golden Daffodils;Beside the Lake, beneath the trees,Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine   And twinkle on the Milky Way,They stretched in never-ending line   Along the margin of a bay:Ten thousand saw I at a glance,Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.”  William Wordsworth

Poetry allows us to create a unified experience from different elements~~ grounding us in what is real, inspiring us with what is possible, and giving voice to the feelings that shape us.

Let's explore more poems together to discover poetry's evocative power!

Dear Ms. Josephs,

Congratulations on your new transformative poetry website. May it too prove to be successful as were your theraputic poetry lessons you conducted at my Senior Center. You opened up a world of imagery, thoughfulness, contemplation, awareness, joy, beauty, challenge, fresh awakenings and much, much, more!

Thank you. Warmly and sincerely,
